Old Los Angeles comes to life in “Ask the Dust,” a sexy Depression-era romance written and directed by Robert Towne, the legendary screenwriter of “Chinatown.” Bringing this adaptation of the John Fante novel of the same name to the silver screen has been a long-nourished labor of love for the Academy Award-winning screenwriter and director, who was close, personal friends with the author. The story focuses on Arturo Bandini (Colin Farrell), who is an ambitious young writer looking for inspiration in the City of Angels. He finds it in the form of Camilla (Salma Hayek), a sultry Mexican waitress in a nearby dive restaurant. Towne joins Kitty in studio to discuss film, friendship, and his critically acclaimed career in Hollywood.
